A recent edition of the University of Michigan, Record Update, highlighted the work being done by Taubman College Urban Planning faculty Margaret Dewar, Lan Deng, and June Manning Thomas to save Detroit neighborhoods from blight. The article was part of, "The Michigan Difference", section of the publication.

Dewar is teaming with the Center for Advancing Research and Solutions for Society (CARSS) to figure out what government and philanthropic programs designed to help head off blight and strengthen housing demand are working. As part of the research, the team will evaluate revitalization efforts in the Grandmont-Rosedale and MorningSide/East English Village neighborhoods where efforts are underway to work with community development corporations to buy, rehabilitate, and sell foreclosed houses.
